- It sounds very much like the PCMCIA Card Services are not being loaded.
- These drivers will be necessary if you want to use your PCMCIA port for
- anything other than your KIT modem.
-
- Your KIT modem can be enabled WITHOUT the Card & Socket Services by using
- the KIT Utilities program. If your laptop did not come with a KIT
- directory, and you cannot find the KIT.EXE file anywhere, call
- 1-800-237-0016 and ask for the AT&T Paradyne bulletin board number. The
- latest version of the KIT utilities is always available there (another
- 1-800 number).
-
- The KIT utilities will install a program called HOTKIT into your
- AUTOEXEC.BAT file so that your modem will be recognized again in future
- boot-cycles. However, if you ever get your Card & Socket Services working,
- you'll want to remove HOTKIT & let the C&SS enable your modem.
-
- Feel free to E-Mail me directly if you have more questions or problems.
- Since it's my job, I'd say you got quite a good modem "for free" with your
- laptop purchase!! :-)
-
- NOTE: The opinions expressed above are *mine* and not those of my employer.
